Okay, sorry to break it to you, but camels come in many types. Some have only one hump regardless of gender and some have two regardless of gender. Never heard the mare thing or noticed it but they are equipped differently than stallions/geldings, right? Enjoy!
One-hump camels are dromedary camels, mostly from Africa and the Middle East. The two-hump camels are Bactrian and are less common, mostly from Mongolia. There's a guy with a Bactrian camel at Shaolin Temple in Henan-just 20 rmb for a picture! The Bactrians were used a lot by the Mongolians and people on the Xian end of the Silk Road, and the dromedary camels were common pack animals on the western end of the Silk Road.
And even though I spent part of high school working for a horse vet, I never heard that one! Ha!
(Thanks for encouragement and prayers, by the way-helps one (me) feel less weary.)
