Happy New Year!

We had our traditional New Year meal...

Pork and Sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, and green beans....I figured we would have a lot of sauerkraut left...but everyone ate it!!
What do you eat for New Year's dinner?

  2. Definitely not sauerkraut-no offense. Today we had a roast pork shoulder from pork that my brother raised, with mashed potatoes and Prince Edward Island vegetables-that means whole yellow beans, whole green beans, and carrots. We don't have a set New Year's dinner, though. We used to have duck in the first few years, thinking that we would start a family tradition unique to our own small family, but then we started getting turkeys every year-my sister in-law got one at work, her husband got one since he worked in the same place, and neither of them like turkey. So it definitely depends on what is in the freezer!

  3. by the way, the recipe you gave me turned out good, I know it wasn't as hot as it was supposed to be but the crockpot came home empty... might have to try it again sometime... especially since I have all that leftover oyster sauce :)

  4. We have black-eye peas and collard or mustard greens and rice. Those are the traditional New Years' foods of the south. We add a ham, macaroni cheese, and lots of desserts to round out the meal...and round out ourselves ;)
