Life in February

When a person's blog goes quiet, there is probably an underlying reason. Maybe they are too busy, maybe they use other social media, or maybe they don't feel like talking about what is happening at their house...one of those reasons might be why my blog has been sorta quiet.
But there have been some great things happening around here and I need to remember them.
My niece is starting a new venture that involves a laser cutter and quilt designs. I was commissioned to sew up some compass patches. I sorta like making small projects. I don't have to concentrate so hard.

We celebrated Joe's birthday at the end of the month.
All grown up at 19 and ready to make his own decisions.
No that wasn't a violin! It was just a big box for a small package.

Even with a two-hour delay the morning of my "senior hot lunch" we managed
three roasters of my version of General Tsao's

a bunch of stir fried veggies--they are good left over

I had a few of these left over and no one is complaining...
We started out with 230 egg rolls.
I cooked up 28 cups of rice and we had a small amount left--that was a bit nerve wracking...I mean really! It is the least expensive item on the menu.

Then Avalon Faye made her appearance!

To say that her brothers are adoring would be an understatement.

One of these days I need to write about --why people feel the need for control---why trauma looks like ADHD or does it?-- how to motivate my children to feel responsibility-- do I even need to?---what if I just let someone else teach them after they are 18 ,  19 ,    20?--how can I make work and taking responsibility second nature?--why are some children just more responsible than others?

To be clear, I've had these conversations with other moms and not all of them have children from hard places...it doesn't always seem to birth order either. Do we expect too much or is our bar too low?

I love my children, but being a grandma is much easier!  Ha! maybe I don't like responsibility either!
