Who Would've Thought?

That the metal monstrosity next to the swimming pool...formerly our wood furnace..

Along with a few odds and ends....would have been worth this much at the re-cyclers this morning.

As my hubby said..."now I can pay the new tires for the pickup"
Wonder what else we can re-cycle?

  2. YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!!! We are still selling metal and usually get at least $50 a pop for stuff we either find lying around on our property or along the road. If you have the time (that is a LOL!), you can find an infinite amount of aluminum cans along the road. We have a railroad track behind us and we collect hundreds of cans along it each month.

Christmas tree light strands bring a pretty penny too b/c they have copper wire in them. Don't throw those out! You can strip the wire out (for a really pretty penny b/c it will then be pure copper) or you can just give them the whole thing and they'll deduct a certain amount for the weight of the lights and insulation.

We keep all food cans now and take those the the metal recycler as well. No offense to our city's recycle bins, but we decided to keep the $$$ and use it ourselves. ;)

When we had our garage sale, we had people buying metal items and later realized they were purchasing them for metal selling. Lesson learned! We started gathering things and making a metal pile before our sale ever ended. If you garage sale anyway (I don't but my MIL does), you can find some great metal finds and take those too.

    :)
